A healthy gum line on the tooth or implant is pale, does not bleed, and is firm/tough/keratinized. It is also positioned at the tooth or implant neck. There are a variety of surgeries that lead to this result, depending on the local (tooth position, nerve status, crown margin) and general (thick vs. thin gingival phenotype, smokers, cortisone) circumstances. There is a lot of literature and a variety of surgical techniques. They will be discussed individually.
